Finding people in agriculture

Nathan Johnston

As a student in agricultural business, Nathan Johnston (agricultural business) had plenty of opportunity to interact with some of the top advisers and professors in country. But he learned that his experience communicating with his peers and future students are what truly set him apart.

In the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), Nathan completed the coursework and out of class experiences to prepare him for a marketing and sales management career. In addition to a host of impressive internships with agricultural companies, Nathan made the most of his time on campus. He assisted CALS Career Services in hosting the largest agricultural career fair in the nation. He was even a featured blogger for CycloneLife, introducing future students to the Iowa State campus.

Today, he is an account representative at Union Pacific Railroad, preparing to be in charge of a commodity-base of customers doing $20-$80 million worth of business with the railroad each year. Read more about the agricultural business major.
