Fulfilling her destiny

Julia Lavallee

Julia Lavallee (nutritional science) came to Iowa State wanting to open an allergen free bakery that could cater to her family who struggled to dine out due to celiac disease. But it seemed that every time she talked to another adviser or faculty member, she became totally excited about something new. Julia wants to do it all.

In the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, we have faculty and advisers that care about the same things you do. Opportunities like Learning Communities offer experiences that help you meet faculty and fellow students, who eventually become your colleagues.

With faculty mentors and a growing network of students from attending conferences, Julia’s window of options is wide open. She may not know exactly what she wants to do, but she knows she has the educational foundation and network of mentors to help her find her way to making a difference in the world.
