Leading through doing

machinery and technology

Colin Connor (agriculture systems technology) just loves his major – the people are great and the classes are hands-on. So when he joined the Agricultural Systems Technology (AST) Club, he got involved right away to make sure that everyone got that same feeling of belonging.

Clubs in all academic areas of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) offer members a variety of leadership opportunities, from serving on committees to being president. Representatives from CALS academic clubs make up a college council which holds events celebrating the student experience.

As a member of AST Club, Colin has organized fundraisers, coordinated bringing industry speakers to meetings, and planned a technology industry night. But the most important thing he has done is bring together ideas from everybody to achieve a common goal – making sure everyone loves being a club member.
